I was lucky enough to serendipitously meet Nyfisa out and about after I had just found out I was pregnant. I’m a registered nurse and it had been very important to me to surround myself with care providers that reflected my same beliefs and I knew I wanted to hire a doula from the get-go. We met and instantly hit it off, but I really had no idea just HOW MUCH support she would provide to both me and my husband throughout this journey to parenthood. My husband was hesitant at first but he was blown away when experiencing just how supportive and informative she was. She was always a text or phone call away throughout my pregnancy, my birth and postpartum. She helped us make a comprehensive birth plan which was then executed to a T. I seriously do not think I could have gotten through my delivery without her. She was so reassuring and did not push any personal ideals on me whatsoever, but helped me make my own timely and informed decisions and was there for me every step of the way. She helped my birth plan come to life in a way that I truly didn’t think was possible and although you can never really anticipate the strong emotions that does come up as you’re going through it all, she helped ease my mind and get me in the right headspace to have a happy and safe delivery of my beautiful baby girl! She empowered my husband to ask all the right questions, to pause and advocate for me when we needed a moment, and to be there for me when I needed him most (not to mention her support to me when I was in the throes of back labor, having painful contractions and my hubby was sleeping made her services worth every penny and then some!!! I swear she has magic hands and massaged my back and used pressure points to help me when I truly did not think I could go on…) She made our hospital room so welcoming and homey with twinkle lights and music; the doctors even commented how positive and ‘what a party’ it was when it was time to deliver! She made my birth a dream come true and then continued to help me and answer my crazed, anxiety riddled texts at 3am in the postpartum haze… She will be a part of our lives forever and I would glowingly recommend her to anyone giving birth in the area! HIRE HER!!! She’s an angel birth worker!

So, let’s  start with a little background information. I had my first child at the age of 24 back in 2011. I was medicated and everything went as planned. I labored at home for as long as possible, water broke at the hospital, received an epidural and 4 hours later she arrived. It was literally by the book. No complaints, sweet and simple. Fast forward to 2021, I’m 34, pregnant with my second child and want to do everything differently. I think as we age, we mature mentally and just have more patience. So this time I wanted to go natural and needed a support person to hold me accountable. So our relationship, I’m speaking of Nyfisa at this point, is different because she’s my sister!!!! As soon as I told her I was pregnant she offered her services.

At our first meeting, she was nothing less than professional. When I tell you it shocked me because I’m jus thinking I’m meeting with my sister to talk about my baby. Nope! She treated me like any other client. Asked me questions that I hadn’t even really gave any thought and explained everything I did not already have knowledge about. It was the details for me! We went over everything and I felt really good about it, we had our plan. Throughout my entire pregnancy she checked on me daily and would give me tips when needed. Anytime I called or text she answered. 

Fast forward to July 24th of 2021. I had just left the movie theater, came home and was under the impression that my water broke. I was 36 weeks and 1 day, so we were safe. I called Nyfisa and said I think my water broke. She said let’s go to the hospital just to be safe. We get to the hospital and they send me home. We’re not even going to get into to that story, that’s a whole other conversation. We leave the hospital at 1 am and go out separate ways. At 3 am I woke up to contractions, it’s just my Husband, my daughter and myself. I go into the bathroom and I’m sitting on the toilet because it’s comfortable. Now remember we had a plan to go natural, but not at home! My Husband calls Nyfisa and while I’m contracting she’s talking me through everything. It was her tone, her stillness, her calmness it just did something. She was able to talk me through my labor on the phone. Just her voice alone was able to calm me and make me pull this strength from out of nowhere to deliver my own baby. Listen, I delivered my own baby with my sister on the phone! That right there is a testament in itself. 

Now I’m making this about me, let’s get to the point. Get a doula! They are essential. They are your person. They block everyone out and focus on you. They teach you to advocate for yourself. They make you think of things you never even wouldn’t have thought about. They are legit walking planners! Lol. They’re so attentive. I never knew I needed a doula until I got one. Even after the baby is here, they are available to you. I’m done now, book with Nyfisa ASAP!

There aren’t enough words to describe my birth experience with Nyfisa C. Rabb of Birth Your Way!

She was a blessing from the beginning to end. I hired her at about 5 months pregnant. She did not hesitate to show up for my husband and I whenever we called. She made it her business to check on us daily via text and on appointment days she called & Face Timed. I honestly wanted a doula because I was afraid and didn’t really know what to expect while birthing. I didn’t want my husband to feel alienated, overwhelmed, or unprepared. I wanted to make sure he had adequate support throughout the pregnancy as well as labor and delivery. 

We received more than I could have imagined with her. She is very knowledgeable, attentive, assertive, and passionate about birthing. She listened well, helped my husband and I navigate our concerns and gave us practical tools to use.

During our prenatal appointments she gave amazing foot rubs, birthing techniques, natural induction exercises, diaper changing lessons and so much more. She truly prepared us for the journey ahead.

During labor she prayed with us. Being a woman of faith was so important to us. My husband and her took shifts tending to me while we were in labor.

After all the prenatal care, and birthing experience, her work was not done.

I had some challenges breastfeeding. Nyfisa did not hesitate to rush to my side. I truly believe I’m having such a positive breastfeeding journey because of her knowledge and support.

I could literally go on and on about how positive my experience was with her. She has just been a blessing overall and I’m so grateful I choose her!

Hiring a doula was one of the best decisions I could’ve made. Not just any doula, Nyfisa! I knew she was the one for me during our initial conversation. Nyfisa’s knowledge of every area pertaining to pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, etc. was very reassuring that she was the right one for me and my family! Although, this was not my first pregnancy, my anxiety was through the roof! I was pregnant with my third child at 35. I knew for this pregnancy I needed a different experience, and I got that and more! Her support goes beyond labor and delivery. Nyfisa’s compassion, willingness to help out, and overall support meant so much to me during such a vulnerable time. Doulas are so underrated❤️! Thank you Nyfisa girl😘!

I am not exaggerating when I say that choosing Nyfisa as my doula was the best decision I made during my pregnancy. She went above and beyond all of our expectations. Because of Nyfisa, my husband and I felt taken care of - we felt extremely supported and empowered before, during and after the birth of our daughter.  

 Nyfisa was truly interested in understanding what we wanted our birth experience to be and strove to help us achieve our birth goals. She had creative and fun ways to help us figure out what we wanted our birth to look like and how she could best support us.  She is easy to feel comfortable around and she radiates warmth and positivity. She also really knows her stuff! She helped us make our birth plan and took a lot of time to discuss and show us different ways she could help me during labor which made us feel a lot more confident as our due date approached. On the night our daughter was born she was 'Johnny on the spot' and did everything that needed to be done which allowed my husband and I to just focus on the birth of our child. At the hospital, she helped make the room a comfortable environment, just as I had requested. She put up fairy lights, used aromatherapy and placed my personal affirmations around the room. She worked with my husband to help get me through every contraction and was our advocate with the doctors and nurses. As first time parents, we would have been lost without her, and without Nyfisa’s intuition, I honestly believe that my daughter would have been born without anyone in the room to catch her! The post-birth session was also helpful as we were adjusting to our lives as new parents - Nyfisa is a wonderful resource and has access to other resources to support us.  

 Nyfisa does a million little extra things that make all the difference in the world. We felt very supported, and she made the birth of our daughter feel special and celebrated. Our birth experience would have been so much worse without her on our team. I am forever grateful to her and her diligence, kindness, sincerity and expertise, and if I have any children in the future, I would work with her again in a heartbeat!

My family and I could not imagine how my delivery would go without Nyfisa with me. She educated, prepared, and encouraged me throughout my entire journey. 

There were times when I was confused and nervous and she was an incredible advocate. She kept my family updated through every step and when things felt out of control, she kept me assured and clam. She really heard me and made sure everyone was patient with me.
